Web 2.0 refers to today’s latest web uses and technologies, the ‘second generation’ of the World Wide Web which aims to enhance creativity, secure information sharing, collaboration and functionality of the web.

This is the name which has been given as an umbrella term to what is considered to be the next phase of the evolution of the internet and involves a more open approach to the Internet, encompassing tools of technologies such as blogs, Podcasts, social media, review sites, folksonomies, wikis and other forms of interaction, development and innovation above and beyond the web technologies.

Web 2.0 Services And Applications  

There are a number of Web-based services and applications that demonstrate the foundations of the Web 2.0 concept, and they are already being used to a certain extent in education. These include blogs, wikis and multimedia sharing services, content syndication, podcasting and content tagging services.
